Life Settlement Broker License, Firm - Initial

License Overview
Applicable to: All business names.
Description: Application for first-time license & reinstatement; fees; requirements; miscellaneous forms & links. License to advertise/advise a person on availability of life settlement (for fee, commission or other valuable consideration). Represents only policy owner's interests.
Statute: CGS 38a-465 through 465g
Transaction Type: Initial
Duration: Annual. License expires March 31 of every year.
Requirements
Prerequisites: Nonresident applicants must hold equivalent license in any other state.
 


Required Documentation: Completed application, fee, Biographical Affidavits for each individual who will act in this capacity on behalf of the firm AND an anti-fraud plan.  Additional requirements, including anti-fraud plan specific requirements, can be found at:  http://www.ct.gov/cid/cwp/view.asp?a=1266&Q=423032.
Other Information:

Data collection forms used by brokers are required to be filed with the Life and Health Division prior to use and must contain all disclosures required by PA 08-175. Data collection forms may not be labeled as applications for life settlement contracts. Applications for life settlement contracts must be filed by providers and approved by the Department.
