Producer License, Individual - Renewal

License Overview
Applicable to: Active licensees.
Description: License to continue to act in the capacity of an insurance Producer.
Statute: CGS 38a-702, 782
Transaction Type: Renewal
Duration: Licenses expire on licensee's birthday, every other year. During the transition period, refer to the expiration date on the license.
Requirements
Prerequisites: Resident licensees holding major lines of authority must complete Continuing Education as required by statute.  With the exception of Producers on military assignments, Connecticut will no longer allow requests for extensions in which to complete CE.

Nonresident licensees must continue to be licensed in their "resident" state.
Required Documentation:

Renewal offering and fee must be received by the Insurance Dept by the license expiry date.

Other Information:

Within one year of license expiry date, licensee is required to late-renew.  Eff Oct 1 2009:

$160 if licensee's expiration/birthday was prior to Oct 1 2009
$320 if licensee's expiration/birthday is Oct 1 2009 or later

Resident and Nonresident Producers:  Invoices are being mailed to all Producers for the balance due.

Nonresident Producers (ONLY) may renew online, if renewal is occurring within the next 60 days OR if it occurred WITHIN the last year.  Go to www.nipr.com.  Failure to meet all requirements on time will result in license and insurance company appointment cancellation.

In conjunction with the Oct 1 2009 fee increase, please note that while NIPR is transitioning to the new fee schedule for NRR’s (Non-Resident Renewals), if a deficient renewal fee is collected through the NIPR Gateway, then the Licensee will receive an invoice directly from the State of Connecticut Insurance Department which must be paid to validate the online renewal application.  If invoiced, payment (in the form of a check or money order) must be forwarded directly to the Connecticut Insurance Department and cannot be made online.  If you have any questions, please contact customerservice@nipr.com.

Licensees who do not renew within one year of license expiry date will be required to reapply (reinstate).   See "Initial" requirements.
